Miran Brumec is the oldest employee in the company. He joined the LGB team in 2000 after twenty years of pedagogical and engineering work in the geodetic profession.

He began to acquire his first geodetic experiences during his secondary school vacation. In the summer of 1980, he was employed at the Municipal Geodetic Administration Slovenska Bistrica and participated in the preparation of materials for the population census, the measurement of geodetic networks, the maintenance of the land cadastre and the cadastre of utility installations. In 1982 he passed a professional examination. In the fall of 1983, the career path led him to a new working place. As a teacher of professional theoretical subjects, he was employed at the then Secondary Civil Engineering School in Ljubljana (today the Secondary School of Civil Engineering, Geodetic and Environmental Protection) and for the next twelve years, he was dedicated to teaching students. In 1986, he passed additional exams at the Faculty of Arts and a professional examination. Besides, he trained also for a computer teacher and led the school development research activities as assistant director. In 1995, he returned to the State Geodetic Administration and, as Assistant to the Director, led the first the branch office in Domžale, then the branch office in Ljubljana and later the State Border department. During this period he gained important managerial skills and experiences of coordinating a large collective and cooperation with the neighboring country on the tasks of maintaining the state border.

In 2000, Miran, with extensive professional experiences, came to LGB and took over the management of the Operative and later the Department of Geospatial Informatics. In his professional development, he has acquired extensive knowledge and several competencies, he shares with clients and colleagues. With a consistent and analytical character, he strives for a structured way of working and excellence in the delivery of services, thus making an important contribution to the professionalism and reputation of the company in the eyes of customers. Also, he continuously follows the view that the engineer should adapt in every situation and he also encourages younger colleagues to do so. Despite the often stressful situations, he keeps a sense of humor. His colleagues appreciate his open and honest relationship with them since he always takes time to talk and loves to share his knowledge.

Miran is considered as a competent authority among geodesists, also outside of LGB. His activities can be met at professional forums, lectures at professional meetings, training sessions, and workshops, preparation of geodetic legislation, mentoring for the thesis and the examination of the geodetic profession.

Miran is actively involved in the activities of the Geodetic Section at the Slovenian Chamber of Engineers (IZS). He is a member of the commission for professional examinations. Since its inception, he has been a member of the Expert Council at the Geodetic Section. In 2011, IZS awarded him with the award for exceptional engineering achievements. He was awarded for a great contribution to the development of the geodetic profession, work in the field of professional education and consistent advocacy and the use of beautiful Slovene in a professional language.

He is also a court expert and one of the founders of the Association of Court Experts and Certified Appraisers of geodetic expertise.

He is anxious to learn also in private life. Even outside the service, he expands professional horizons, where he is interested in everything related to the geodesy and the position of the profession in society. He loves nature and rests on-farm tasks. He loves hiking, cycling and enjoys reading. He has been enthusiastic about grandchildren in recent years and has been watching with interest their growing up and enforcement.
